Drug Discovery
Individuals with a variety of backgrounds and scientific
specialties come together to identify, screen, modify,
test and evaluate molecules with therapeutic potential
that both address medical needs and have commercial
value.
Pharmaceutical
Development
Involved in the key transitional phase between drug
discovery and manufacturing for clinical trials, individuals
assist in the development and regulatory approval of
innovative medicines. This area includes scientists
from six major company divisions: Analytical R&D,
Biopharmaceutics R&D, Drug Safety Evaluation, Metabolism
and Pharmacokinetics, Process R&D and Veterinary
Science.

Clinical
Research and Development
M.D.'s, scientists and clinical research associates
plan, execute and analyze safety and efficacy trials
in clinical settings worldwide. Research is conducted
to ensure the safety and efficiency of drugs and to
optimize the quality of care patients receive.
Regulatory
Affairs
From initial drug development to the human testing stage
and beyond, it is the responsibility of regulatory affairs
professionals to ensure the scientific and regulatory
adequacy of all pharmaceutical projects. This area includes
six major company departments: Compliance, International
Regulatory Affairs, Medical Affairs/Labeling, Operations,
Safety and Surveillance and U.S. Liaison to the U.S.
Food and Drug Administration.

Informatics
Individuals design and develop prototype solutions to
laboratory problems and implement cost-effective systems
solutions. They operate the computer center to ensure
the availability of application programs and provide
support for production applications, the PRI network,
desktop computers, satellite sites, library operations
and search services.
