Reward and Recognition
Bonuses: Bonus programs create a powerful lever
for rewarding results and behaviors that support our BioPharma
strategy, our future-state operating culture and the commitments
embodied in our mission and commitment. Competitive bonuses are awarded
based on the company's and an individual's performance as it pertains
to results and behaviors.
Recognition Awards: Employees may receive cash bonuses
focused on recognizing and acknowledging strong behaviors and key
contributions of special value to Bristol-Myers Squibb that are above and beyond an employee's regular responsibilities.
Employee Referral Program: We empower our employees to
contribute to the success of our organization by helping to recruit
talented people who share their passion for excellence. Eligible
employees who refer an eligible candidate will receive a cash reward if
the candidate is hired by Bristol-Myers Squibb.
Anniversaries: Service awards for significant years of service with Bristol-Myers Squibb are granted.
Family/Dependent Care
Adoption Assistance: Employees receive one week of paid time off to adopt a child or assume foster care responsibility. The company also helps defray adoption costs.
On-site Childcare: Child Development Centers are located on our larger corporate campuses:
- Hopewell, New Jersey
- Plainsboro, New Jersey
- Lawrenceville, New Jersey
- Wallingford, Connecticut
- New Brunswick, New Jersey (coming in 2010)
These facilities offer subsidized full-time and part-time daycare programs for children from eight weeks of age to five years old, and a full-day kindergarten. The centers also offer backup care for when school is out or childcare arrangements are temporarily unavailable, as well as summer camp.
Childcare Discounts: Bristol-Myers Squibb offers financial assistance at several national childcare centers with locations near our work sites.
Resource and Referral Services: Counselors help with planning and referrals for parenting and childcare, lactation, children’s education and elder care.
Lactation Services: Bristol-Myers Squibb subsidizes the purchase of a Medela breast pump, and offers free consultation with a lactation specialist. Sites also make private space available to nursing mothers.
Prenatal Program: Eligible employees receive telephone support with medical practitioners during pregnancy. There’s also a self-study program for employees who are expecting a child.
Domestic Partner Benefits: These benefits are offered to employees’ same-sex partners and their dependent children.
Health/Wellness
Health Care: A variety of medical and dental plans are available for eligible employees to choose from for themselves and their dependents.
Fitness Centers: On-site fitness centers at the company’s major locations offer aerobic, strength and flexibility training, as well as group exercise classes and massage therapy.
Health Services: On-site nurses provide flu shots, host blood drives and help support the health needs of all employees.
Pharmacy: Prescription drug coverage is provided to employees enrolled in a BMS-sponsored medical plan option. Covered prescriptions are available at a percentage of their retail cost, and most Bristol-Myers Squibb branded prescriptions are filled free of charge.
Retiree Health Care: Medical benefits are available to retirees.
Resource and Referral Services: You can receive professional and confidential counseling, referrals and information on a variety of topics, including addiction, financial problems, emotional well-being and legal issues.

Financial/Savings
Charitable Donations: Bristol-Myers Squibb
matches donations that you make to eligible organizations on a
dollar-for-dollar basis per person per year.
Scholarships for Employees' Children: Bristol-Myers Squibb offers children of employees up to 50 scholarships every year for full-time undergraduate study.
Credit Union: The Bristol-Myers Squibb Federal Credit Union
offers a variety of accounts and loans, as well as direct deposit and
online bill paying.
Financial Planning: A financial planning option is available
to eligible employees. This option offers phone or online tools to
assist in your financial planning needs.
Life Insurance: You and your dependents are eligible to elect from among a range of coverage options.
Business Travel Accident Coverage: Coverage relating to accidents that occur while on company business is funded by the company.
Disability Coverage: To protect your income if you become
disabled, company-funded short-term and long-term disability benefits
are available to eligible employees.
Reimbursement Accounts: These can be used to fund covered
health care and/or dependent care expenses, with pre-tax contributions
deducted from your pay throughout the year.
Flexible Benefits Program: The Bristol-Myers Squibb Flexible
Benefits Program (FLEX) gives you the flexibility and opportunity to
choose from a variety of health and insurance benefit options that meet
your needs and those of your family.
Savings Plan: Bristol-Myers Squibb provides employees with
the opportunity to save for retirement by making pre-tax and after-tax
contributions from their paycheck. Through the 401(k) Savings Plan, the
company will match your contribution dollar-for-dollar up to a certain
percentage of your annual pay. Each year the company will also make an
annual additional contribution on behalf of eligible employees.
Education and Training
Leadership & Management Programs: A core curriculum
exists as part of our company's formal training programs for
entry-level up to executive-level employees. Example courses include
"Unlocking your Leadership Potential" and "Personal Empowerment -
Taking Initiative."
Online Courses: Self-paced classes selected from our
extensive e-learning catalog — one of the best in the industry — enable
you to study a variety of topics whenever and wherever you want.
Tuition Assistance: Bristol-Myers Squibb reimburses eligible
employees for 75 percent of the cost to enroll in college or university
courses that would benefit both the employee and the company.

Time Off
Holidays: There are nine fixed holidays in
addition to four optional holidays, which may be utilized for days of
personal significance annually.
Vacation: Employees may receive anywhere from three to six weeks annually based on service.
Leaves of Absence: Employees are eligible for extended time
off for their own illness, adoption, family care, maternity, medical
conditions, military, parental care or personal leave.
Sick Time: Employees are eligible for paid time off due to
illness. When illness or injury requires an extended absence, benefits
are paid under our short-term and long-term disability plans.
