A variety of opportunities exist throughout our company for you to gain valuable real-life work experience and academic credit. If you are studying at a competitive college/university and are about to complete your junior year, you are invited to apply to one of our internship or co-op programs. Some divisions may accept applications from other classes (e.g., sophomore). Summer Internships

Our graduate and undergraduate Summer Intern Development Programs are designed to ensure interns gain valuable industry and functional experience, work on challenging assignments, and partner and network with Bristol-Myers Squibb employees, while learning about our company.

The programs feature:

  • one 10- to 12-week assignment within a business team; typically May/June to August
  • an orientation, including an overview of company structure, products and brands
  • exposure to senior management and business leaders
  • an opportunity to work on "live" projects, with a formal presentation at the conclusion of your internship
  • a mentor program
  • mid- and end-of-summer performance review sessions

Some summer intern programs have also included:

  • senior business speaker series (cross-divisional)
  • a community service event
  • team-building events
  • housing assistance

Summer Intern Development Program participants are a priority in the full-time offer process.

Businesses that typically host graduate and undergraduate summer interns are:

  • Finance/Accounting in central New Jersey
  • Human Resources in central New Jersey
  • Research & Development in central New Jersey and Wallingford, Connecticut
  • Technical Operations in central New Jersey; Devens, Massachusetts; and Syracuse, New York


Co-op assignments are available for graduate and undergraduate students for a four- to six-month duration, running from January through June or June through December. You will have the opportunity to work with experts within the industry and with leading-edge technology, all while gaining invaluable experience for academic credit (if applicable).

Businesses that typically offer co-op assignments are:

  • Research & Development in central New Jersey and Wallingford, Connecticut
  • Technical Operations in central New Jersey and Devens, Massachusetts
