Bristol-Myers Squibb: Global Development and Medical Affairs

Global Development and Medical Affairs

The Global Development and Medical Affairs (GDMA) organization develops innovative medicines that meaningfully improve the standard of care of patients. We communicate the value of these medicines to society and provide information on their safe and appropriate use.

Global Research and Medical Affairs

GDMA plays a critical role in the R&D process by understanding unmet medical needs and developing a clinical development program that generates data to support product approval, the product label and economic value discussions. We ensure the right processes and governance standards are in place to generate the highest quality data from our clinical development programs. This process allows us to focus on those compounds that promise to provide the most value to patients. We communicate these data to the patient, payer, and practitioner to appropriately inform decisions and provide access.

We recognize the importance of our work first and foremost to the patients, who count on us to provide novel treatment options that enhance the quality of their lives. We also acknowledge our responsibility to physicians, regulators, payers and investors, to whom we must demonstrate a social and economic return on investment.

Our strength as a company is our people. Therefore, we look for people who desire more than just a job. We strive to advance the science of our medicines while upholding the highest ethical standards. Our people understand that they are working towards a common goal – helping patients prevail over serious diseases.
