Grand Rounds & Journal Clubs

Grand rounds today are an integral component of medical education. Originally a part of residency training where new information was taught in a way to enhance clinical reasoning skills, the term now refers to formal meetings in which physicians meet to present clinical problems in medicine by focusing on current or interesting cases.

Complementing these physician gatherings are journal clubs, which are now mainly online exchanges between physicians, researchers, and medical education faculty members that provide key information and articles that are relevant to their daily responsibilities. It is a way to increase awareness of medical trends in specific fields and to learn about important new findings sooner.

Bristol-Myers Squibb provides grants of $5,000 or less to help fund accredited programs to support honorariums and lodging for non-affiliated speakers and modest meal costs. Meals must be open to all attendees, and programming must be primarily dedicated to promoting objective and balanced scientific education related to disease state and treatment options.
