Facts and Figures
The Bristol-Myers Squibb Anagni facility is a technical operations plant, situated in an industrial area one hundred kilometers southeast of Rome. It opened in 1966.
The facility is approximately 19,300 square meters on a site of 358,000 square meters.
The Anagni Facility manufactures and packages two types of products. There are sterile products such as suspension, solution, parenterals, and powder, in addition to non-sterile products such as non-lactam oral solid dose products, creams, syrups, tablets, and ointments. Included in this are: cardiovascular products, dermatological creams and ointments, and vitamins.
The principle products are cardiovascular, oncological, biologic, dermatological creams, oitnments, vitamins, anti-infammatory, anticoagulant, and analgesic branded pharmaceuticals.
The Anagni facility is also the main site for primary and secondary packaging (i.e.
ABILIFY®
(aripiprazole)
) and recently the launch site for
ORENCIA®
(abatacept)
(2007),
SPRYCEL®
(dasatinib)
(2008), and
BARACLUDE®
(entecavir)
(2008).
Community and Social Progress
Employees from Anagni have collaborated on several educational initiatives to raise EHS awareness and understanding in the community. This partnering has resulted in the publication of several booklets about water, chemicals, and plants and animals.
Safety enhancements:
Near miss incidents/accidents communication
ATEX project to reduce explosion risk
Collective protection of machines improvement
Ergonomic equipment investments
Bristol-Myers Squibb Anagni site received awards and recognition for "Safety Excellence" from 1998 to present.
Environmental Performance
The Anagni facility achieved the environmental management system certification ISO 14001 in 2000 and achieved the health and safety management system certification OHSAS 18001 in 2002.
The plant installed two solar energy photovoltaic systems to provide an alternative source of electricity. The first photovoltaic plant is on the roof of the canteen to provide energy to the offices. A larger second set of panels is on the base of the antifire basin tank to power the facility's wastewater treatment plant. The solar panels produce about 37,500 kilowatt-hours per year of electrical energy, which correlates to a greenhouse gas reduction of 15,000 kilograms per year.
Safety training is provided to each employee.
Actions taken to reduce EHS impacts include:
Waste production: waste recycle improvement awareness, empty water bottles recovered.
Energy use: photovoltaic plant installation, energy saving campaign.
The health of our employees, the safety of our process, and protecting the environment are the commitments of our facility and moral principles of our way of work.
