Summary:
Primary responsibility is to maintain a presence and provide Quality oversight, coaching and support to manufacturing groups.  Assists in the identification and generation of investigation records that may result during day-to-day operations.  Assure the quality of manufactured products complies with all applicable regulations and guidelines.  

Duties/Responsibilities:
•    Serve as the primary QA contact for multiple manufacturing areas.  
•    Performs routine manufacturing batch production record review in support of product release in accordance with specifications and SOPs.
•    Perform walkthroughs of GMP areas documenting observations and areas of concern to support inspection readiness of the manufacturing facility and support areas.
•    Assisting in deviation/nonconformance identification and resolution acting as team member to investigate deviations to determine appropriate root cause and CAPAs or may be responsible for CAPA resolution as required. 
•    Supports return to service walkthroughs and Manufacturing inspection readiness walkthroughs per procedures as needed. 
•    Assures all electronic and paper documentation, which requires QA review is in compliance with corporate and site procedures, cGMP regulations, and other industry guidelines.
•    Monitors and trends batch record errors, batch record review cycle time to support disposition, and walkthrough observations to provide Quality Assurance management with quality indicator data.
•    Work with operations personnel to resolve issues in a GMP compliant manner. 
•    Perform quality tag outs of equipment as required.  
•    Support product change over activities. 

Knowledge/Skill:
•    Knowledge of biologics manufacturing is highly desirable.

Position Description:

The Scientist / Automation Specialist in downstream process development will be working in a dynamic team setting to develop efficient and scalable downstream purification processes with cutting-edge technologies for therapeutic proteins. The scientist will support the BMS biologics pipeline through development of creative purification strategies for high-throughput process development. They will work closely with other functional groups such as cell line development, upstream process development and process development analytics. Position will start in Hopewell but will move to New Brunswick in 4Q2019.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, execute and improve semi- and fully automated high throughput protein purification screens in support of the biologics pipeline
• Performs problem diagnosis and troubleshooting of automated systems and workflows
• Develop, implement and analyze studies using automation workflow to improve process understanding

• Continuous improvement on current HTS workflows

BMS Cruiserath Biologics is seeking to recruit a permanent  Indirect Sourcing, Senior Specialist (SSS) to support BMS sourcing efforts for indirect materials, capital equipment and related services, engineering/facility services, as well other materials and services for the BMS Cruiserath site. This position will report to the site-based GP Regional Procurement lead and will maintain strong alignment to the biologics manufacturing network strategy and initiatives.

The position requires strong operational alignment with the site departments including engineering and facilities, quality, technical services/capital as well as alignment with GP category leads. This is a business critical and business enablement function for site operations that requires strong ability to manage multiple, shifting priorities on a daily basis with minimal guidance with a demonstrative ability to strategically assess assigned category governance process and direction and work with business stakeholders to develop and execute strategic plans accordingly.
 

Responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

• Collaborate with/supports both Site Procurement across the biologics network as well as category owners on strategy development and leads/supports procurement execution where appropriate. 
• Proactively engages with business stakeholders to ensure timely & flawless execution of vendor/service activities while ensuring compliance with procurement processes and policies.
• Collaborate and support a team of network procurement operations personnel and support a strategic vision to achieve best-in-class biologics site objectives for supply and services.
• Achieve and exceed metrics including (but not limited to) supplier performance improvement, category strategy development, cost optimisation projects and opportunities development, purchase price variance (PPV), receipt to promise (RTP), inventory, and invoicing compliance.
• Support or Lead Cruiserath-based efforts for standardization of indirect consumables/ services and drive delivery of cost savings including alternate/secondary sourcing activities for cost savings/avoidance.
• Lead procurement efforts for high and low-impact capital projects including expansions to equipment train, facility and other projects affecting site footprint. Achieve cost savings objectives related to capital projects. Provide procurement support for cost-estimation prior to project budget finalization.
• Support sourcing projects directly impacting Cruiserath site: create, issue, and manage large-scope request for proposals (RFPs), confidential disclosure agreements (CDAs), addenda, negotiations, contracts, and awards associated with site critical projects.
• Provide leadership and guidance to department personnel executing sourcing events.
• Create, issue, and manage large-scope RFPs, CDAs, addenda, negotiations, contracts, and awards associated with indirect materials, gowning items, laboratory equipment &supplies and other facility services as required.
• Support annual budget process for Cruiserath site operations working closely with category leaders, site finance, site supply chain, general management and GP finance. Achieve high-quality budget on-schedule and in alignment with GP and Global Manufacturing and Supply (GMS) expectations.
• Lead development of critical cGMP facility service agreements as a result of site audits/inspection activities. Work with technical services and supplier quality to ensure service compliance with cGMP expectations.
• Lead and drive the development of Multi-Year Project Pipeline (MYPP) initiatives in conjunction with internal and external stakeholders utilising (but not limited to) supplier and market innovation trends and analysis, vendor and network/competitor benchmarking and site spend/data analysis
• Partner with site finance for site audit preparation.
• Support cGMP audit activities, as required, and in alignment with site quality operations. Escalate supply-related audit requests as required.
• In addition, a key deliverable will be to manage Supplier Relationship Management processes, procedures, supplier and category segmentation, metrics/KPI development and application, scorecard format and contract management through Supplier Relationship Management programs. He/she will facilitate continuous improvement and supplier-enabled innovation and enable the Head of Sourcing/Sourcing Managers to achieve strategic objectives.

BMS Cruiserath Biologics is seeking to recruit a permanent Senior Cell Culture Scientist within the Manufacturing Sciences and Technology (MS&T) organisation. The Senior Cell Culture Scientist, MS&T serves as a process technical lead and subject matter expert to small/large scale cell culture and harvest unit operations for the commercial manufacture of biopharmaceuticals at BMS Cruiserath Biologics manufacturing. The Senior Cell Culture Scientist, MS&T will assist the design and execution of experiments for design & control of large scale inocula, seed train, bioreactor, filtration and centrifugation unit operations. This position also involves troubleshooting and problem solving of process related problems observed at manufacturing scale and the evaluation of new process technologies through the effective design of scale-down studies and the evaluation of data from manufacturing lots.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provides subject matter technical expertise for investigation and resolution of upstream process deviations, root cause investigation, CAPAs, process improvements, scale-down model development, new technology evaluation and preparation of regulatory filings.
• Supports process technology transfer and the preparation of CMC documentation for regulatory filings for BMS Cruiserath Biologics facility.
• Authors technical documents, including protocols, reports and SOPs supporting the validation of the manufacturing upstream process.
• Participates in the preparation of regulatory filing documents and inspection readiness.
• Provides process subject matter expertise for regulatory inspections and other interactions with regulatory agencies, representing the Cruiserath site.
• Leads and mentors a team of scientists in the delivery of the above.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills Required:

• Minimum BSc or equivalent with a minimum 6-8 years relevant experience, MSc or equivalent with minimum of 4-6 years relevant experience, Ph.D. with 0-4 years relevant experience, biological sciences or chemical/biochemical engineering.
• Experience in upstream manufacturing technical support or upstream process development in the biopharmaceutical industry is essential.
• Experience in the design, modification and optimization of cell culture or fermentation unit operations.
• Proven project management skills that include leading cross functional teams and effectively balancing project assignments with other duties.
• Experience with biopharmaceutical regulatory submissions and interaction with regulatory agency inspectors.
• Excellent verbal & written communications skills. Interpersonal and facilitation skills necessary to interface with and influence all levels of the organization with the ability to lead people and multi-disciplinary teams.

Sales candidates must be able to understand and apply knowledge of pertinent health care industry trends, sales trends, market dynamics, competitors, applicable laws and regulations, and health care payer environment, and analyze each of these factors in the development of actionable business plans and in daily execution of sales calls, within compliance guidelines.  Develop and implement territory plans that identify and prioritize activities and resources to accomplish short and long-term sales and business goals.

An accountable self-starter who can develop deep customer insights, build and maintain strong professional relationships with physicians (primary care and specialists), pharmacists, nurses, office staff and other health care providers in the patient care continuum.  Appropriately leverage resources and apply sound account management skills and perseverance to secure customer access and maximize selling time.  Utilize deep understanding of disease states, BMS products, and as appropriate, relevant competitor products to tailor interactions with specific customers.  Excellent communication skills- verbal and written- including the ability to present to groups.
