Profile Description

The AD, Clinical Trials Industry Collaborations Lead is an essential role in the evolution of Global Clinical Operations within the Clinical Trial Business Capabilities group. This is a strategic role reporting to the Director of Clinical Trial Business Capabilities and is accountable for implementing and executing the strategy for Industry Collaborations within GCO to support the participation of BMS in key partnerships and consortia in advancing clinical trials.

The AD, Clinical Trials Industry Collaborations Lead is a key driver in harnessing the power of industry collaborations by bringing in external innovation and partnerships to strengthen BMS’s Global Clinical Operations processes. The candidate in this role will perform targeted outreach to the key consortia, industry alliances and communities involving key external stakeholders (including industry peers, academia, sites, patients and vendors) to collaborate on an extensive set of domains relevant to Clinical Operations.

Working closely with different stakeholders within Global Clinical Operations, the Clinical Trials Industry Collaborations Lead will ensure GCO has a suitable resource investment in key industry collaborations and consortia to drive a strategy enabling compliant and efficient delivery of GCO technologies, innovation and a culture of continuous improvement. The candidate role will work with a broad set of internal stakeholders and will partner with peers to identify opportunities within a matrixed group of individuals in GCO and the Clinical Trial Business Capabilities group for leveraging industry collaborations.

Additionally, the role will work with our Process Improvement Leads and Clinical Trial Business Capabilities Leads in determining synergies between process improvements and system improvements to support GCO business strategy and objectives.

The role will require profound experience and ability to manage multiple streams of change and synthesize input from different external initiatives and collaborations into one coherent direction and vision. The incumbent will coordinate change management and awareness across GCO relevant industry collaborations and ensure leadership teams are aware of change impact and opportunities for a smooth and positive change experience.

The incumbent should have demonstrable project management experience and relationship building both internally and externally. The incumbent should understand change management concepts and champion change.

The incumbent will have a strong understanding of the Clinical Trials challenges and be able to leverage opportunities of external industry collaborations to harness lessons learned internally.

Key Responsibilities and Major Duties

Develop a strategy, business cases, value realization plans to enhance clinical operations and clinical development processes through industry partnerships and collaborations.

Engage with key consortia such as Transcelerate, CTTI, eCF and others to determine opportunities for investment and collaboration.

Engage stakeholders across GCO to identify opportunities of unmet need across clinical trial business capabilities, and propose strategic solutions to optimize business areas through industry collaborations.

Influencing and driving members of key GCO and enabling functions including Information Technology to ensure the adoption and resource investment in specific industry collaboration workstreams within Transcelerate, CTTI and others.

Ensuring clear and effective business ownership and governance strategy around industry collaborations within GCO.

Partnering with Continuous Improvement, Change Management and Clinical Trial Business Capabilities teams to promote awareness of current industry collaborations and explore key opportunities.

Coordinate with GCTPAM LT and GCO LT to promote awareness of change initiatives progress and risks

Collaborate with GCO and RCOs globally to ensure global awareness and value realization of key deliverables from industry collaborations and consortia such as Transcelerate.

Be an ambassador to BMS for GCO-led industry collaborations. Own program management roles within key GCO industry collaborations for BMS.

Communicate and infuse external lessons learned across the organization to promote a culture of continuous improvement


Bachelor’s degree required with an advanced (Masters) degree preferred.  Minimum of 5 years of direct experience in driving and leading change in a pharmaceutical industry context or clinical trial technologies. Significant, demonstrated breadth of experience, versatility, and independent leadership and stakeholder management skills.

Experience in clinical trial processes, challenges and technologies

Experience in setting strategy, planning, implementation

Experience and robust understanding of change management principles

Experience working with external industry peers in cross-functional collaborations

Knowledge of existing pharmaceutical industry consortia such as Transcelerate, CTTI and others

Robust understanding of biopharmaceutical industry, clinical trial conduct, regulatory and safety processes, and the external and internal Business Environment

Knowledge of GCP/ICH guidelines, regulations

Proven ability in managing day-to-day Planning and Operational activities and ability to lead people and teams towards a shared vision to drive innovation

Proven ability to build strong relationships with external companies and partners

Experienced in communicating and interacting with Senior Executive stakeholders

Customer focus - dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers and consumers

Experience in stakeholder management

Strong project management and planning skills

Effective oral and written communication skills to influence, inform, or guide

Experience working in a matrix environment.
