Corporate Affairs Lead, European Markets, Australia and Canada (EMAC) and Intercon
Corporate Affairs/Communications
We are looking for a Corporate Affairs Lead to manage the development and execution of an integrated external/internal communications and stakeholder engagement strategy across two BMS regions: EMAC and Intercon. This exciting leadership role covers European markets, Canada, Latin America, Brazil, Central Eastern Europe and Middle East, and provides an opportunity to lead a talented, diverse Corporate Affairs team spread across several continents. The Lead will work in close partnership with the Worldwide Corporate Affairs (WW CA) group and support the Company priorities and business needs in key BMS geographies.
Key Accountabilities:
- Develop and execute an integrated Corporate Affairs plan across EMAC and Intercon, in close collaboration with WW CA and local teams.
- Manage a team of team of direct reports consisting of Corporate Affairs Leads for markets/regions across EMAC & Intercon; develop and coach a high performing team to support the functional and business priorities
- Ensure appropriate capabilities and talent are leveraged across markets to address business needs
- Continuously review service levels to maintain focus on highest value activities
- Assume a role on the EMAC and Intercon cross functional leadership teams to represent the Corporate Affairs function and provide proactive communications counsel to leadership teams & Commercial Heads of the EMAC and Intercon Regions
- Build close relationships with the market/region General Managers and local Leadership Teams to ensure appropriate CA support is deployed to support evolving business needs
- Work with direct reports to anticipate and prepare for stakeholder reactions to relevant brand and regulatory milestones and to deliver appropriate communications strategy to maximize communications opportunities while mitigating risks relevant to the Company reputation and its assets.
- Works collaboratively with Global Corporate Affairs teams and colleagues to ensure alignment on R&D and Commercial Communications, Corporate Communications, Employee Communications and Content & Channel Management, Government Affairs, Policy and Advocacy.
- Actively contributes to global Corporate Affairs program planning and development as appropriate Works with Global Corporate Affairs to develop relevant digital communication strategy within relevant markets and investigate the use of emerging communications technologies to reach new stakeholder segments.
Experience/Profile Desired:
- 15+ years of experience of media relations and patient advocacy preferably in pharmaceutical/healthcare PR
- Preferable to have significant in-house experience with both in-market and above-market communications leadership involvement
- Experience of leading and developing high-impact, multi-stakeholder communications campaigns domestically and internationally.
- Good understanding to the policy dynamics and access challenges ex-US
- Good understanding of what is required to lead a culture of compliance with all appropriate policies and standard operating procedures; embeds commitment to compliance within communications team practices.
- Knowledge of BMS’ core priority areas, operating environment and products.
- Demonstrated strategic thinking and analytical ability; strong negotiation and facilitation skills; a good understanding of the key drivers of the business; superior oral and written communication skills; good problem solving and management skills.
- Experience working successfully in multinational, cross functional teams and matrices, and in cross company collaborations; high degree of cultural sensitivity
- Project management experience and demonstrated experience in managing large projects across a matrix structure.
