For the third consecutive year, Bristol Myers Squibb earned a score of 100 from Disability:IN and named as one of the 2021 Best Places to Work for Disability Inclusion. The Disability:IN Disability Equality Index® (DEI) recognizes companies that prioritize the inclusion of people with disabilities. The Index measures key performance indicators across organizational culture, leadership, accessibility, employment, community engagement, support services and supplier diversity. The DEI is a joint initiative of the American Association of People with Disabilities and Disability:IN.
For the 15th consecutive year, we received a perfect score of 100% on the 2021 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national review of workplace equality conducted annually by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) civil rights organization.
We are one of the 2020 Working Mother 100 Best Companies — marking the 23rd consecutive year that our company has made the list. The company was recognized for encouraging female advancement as well as the comprehensive array of benefits offered, including on-site childcare and flexible work options.
For the sixth straight year, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has named Bristol Myers Squibb as an ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year for Sustained Excellence. This award recognizes creative leadership in improving the energy efficiency of the company’s facilities around the world.
Here are a few highlights from the achievements cited by the EPA in its decision to give us this award:
- We improved our energy intensity by over 10% in only three years at our Humacao Puerto Rico facility.
- We increased our solar photovoltaic capacity by over 35%, procured over 7% of our imported electricity as green and co-generated more than 20 percent of the corporate electricity demand.
- We have invested significantly in a greener and more cost-effective future:
- Our $2.5M investments in 39 capital energy projects is projected to save us $1.5M annually
- Our $48M investments in 416 projects since 2010 have already saved us $48M
- More significantly, 5 years ago, we committed to reduce our energy intensity by 20% in a decade. We have already--only halfway into this period--achieved a reduction of 15.23%--a huge figure for a company our size.
Through these efforts, BMS strives to raise the standard of sustainability and serve as a good example for others in the industry. These achievements represent important progress toward our 2020 Sustainability Goals and beyond.

Supplier Diversity Program
Bristol Myers Squibb is also recognized for its commitment to working with Veteran Owned Businesses by Viqtory Media. Military Friendly Supplier Diversity ratings are assessed through the evaluation of both public data about the organization and proprietary data gathered through its Military Friendly Supplier Diversity Program survey, which is now a part of the Military Friendly Companies survey. The annual, data-driven survey assessment is available at no cost to companies and federal contractors nationwide.

Bristol Myers Squibb's Hopewell, New Jersey site earned the 2017 Challenge for Industry recognition. The ENERGY STAR Challenge for Industry is a national call-to-action to improve energy efficiency of America's manufacturers by 10 percent or more. By taking the ENERGY STAR Challenge, sites set a goal to reduce their energy intensity by 10 percent within five years. To earn this recognition, the Hopewell site upgraded and optimized its chilled water plants, retrofitted two main boilers and the HVAC systems and performed full LED lighting upgrades, among other improvements.
Bristol Myers Squibb’s OPDIVO® (nivolumab) was a unanimous selection or Pharmaceutical Executive Magazine/PharmExec.com’s 2016 Brand of the Year. Pharm Exec’s Editorial Advisory Board notes that Opdivo has “raced into the lead position in the treatment-shifting immuno-oncology space behind launches in three key cancers—melanoma, lung, and renal,” in announcing the 10th annual award in its May issue.

This represents the second award from Prix Galien USA given to Bristol Myers Squibb’s Immuno-Oncology portfolio. YERVOY® (ipilimumab) was awarded the prestigious Prix Galien USA prize for Best Biotechnology Product in 2012.
