After my diagnosis, I had decided that I was going to quit my neurology residency. I was quitting on life.
My name is Burhan Chaudhry. I am one of three siblings, I am the oldest. I have a younger sister and a younger brother.
My sister was diagnosed with MS towards the end of my medical school. I was not far from graduation. Her diagnosis got me really interested in neurosciences.
In the second year of my residency, I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis myself. I had decided that I was going to quit my neurology residency. I just felt really isolated.
And I thought that it's just not worth it. I was quitting on everything. I was quitting on life.
And there was someone there to talk me out of that. And I'm so grateful he did.
And so I share that with my patients as well, is that, hey, I've been in that position. I gave up on everything and I was going to throw it all away. So please do not do that. And look at me now.
I chose to be in clinical development at BMS because for patients, every moment matters. Every trial, every setback, every step forward.
I’m fighting for myself and for MS patients like my sister.
I have been actively involved with patients, advocacy groups. And just really grateful that I can contribute in a meaningful way and fight along with what we refer to ourselves as MS Warriors.
The future is exciting and the journey should be fun as well.
That's why We Won't Lose.
