Management approach

How BMS governs ethical conduct — through our Principles of Integrity, Standards of Business Conduct, and oversight from legal, audit, finance, human resources, and environmental, health, safety, and sustainability.

Ethics and Compliance Governance

Bristol Myers Squibb has established Principles of Integrity and our Standards of Business Conduct and Ethics, which embody our high standards of ethical behavior and form the basis of our interactions with our employees, patients, customers, shareholders and the global community. These Principles summarize important policies and procedures addressing conduct of the company's business in a legal, ethical and responsible manner. Our Law Department, Internal Audit, Finance, Human Resources, and the Global Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability Department monitor company compliance with these standards.

Our management systems and policies include:

  • Customer health and safety
  • Product labeling
  • Marketing
  • Contractors/suppliers
  • Privacy
  • Direct-to-consumer communications
  • Full prescribing information and boxed warnings for products
  • Product integrity
  • Clinical trials communications and disclosure
  • Environmental issues/impacts associated with product use and disposal
