Bristol Myers Squibb first began operations in Ireland in 1964 with an Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient Plant (API) in Swords, County Dublin. The current Bristol Myers Squibb operations in Ireland include a newly constructed state-of-the-art biologics drug-substance manufacturing facility in Cruiserath, Dublin 15 and External Manufacturing divisions in Blanchardstown, Dublin 15 and Shannon, Co. Clare. Bristol Myers Squibb Ireland employs approximately 650 people.
The Bristol Myers Squibb Cruiserath facility is a Multi-Product Cell Culture Biologics Manufacturing facility part of the Global Product Development and Supply (GPS) within the Bristol Myers Squibb network. The new state-of-the-art facility will produce multiple therapies for the company’s growing biologics portfolio.
The Multi-Product Cell Culture Facility holds six 15,000 litre bioreactors. The facility will initially manufacture a single product at a time and eventually move to between three to five campaigns per year. The facility is highly flexible, designed to accommodate a variety of cell culture processes.
The Global Biologics Laboratory is located on the Cruiserath site. The Global Biologics Laboratory is responsible for the release testing of Biologics Drug product for the Bristol Myers Squibb network.

Bristol Myers Squibb has two External Manufacturing sites based in Dublin 15 and Shannon, Co. Clare. The External Manufacturing network is responsible for the management of third party drug manufacturing operations.
